Calling all artists! Solar The Sign would like to invite you to contribute your creativity to our community by submitting a few versions of the logo you think Solar The Sign should adorn.  Please read the creative brief below and follow the instructions at the bottom of the page.

OVERVIEW
SOLAR THE SIGN is a nonprofit organization committed to raising the awareness of renewable energy and environmental sustainability. One icon at a time, our global network of supporters will turn world famous landmarks, like the Hollywood sign, into powerful symbols of sustainability by lighting them with solar energy one night a year. To further our efforts, we will empower the communities surrounding the landmarks by providing education and support for tangible projects that promote environmental sustainability.

Still in the initial stages of development, our current logo does not hit the mark on the brand identity we envision for Solar the Sign. The logo should first and foremost speak to solar and what STS stands for as an organization (environmental sustainability) but it should also resonate with our core audience. It should be simple, professional, memorable and eventually recognizable.

The logo will live on the Solar the Sign website and accompanying social media sites which will be our primary means of communication with our supporters. It will also be seen at events and potentially on STS product so it needs to be visually interesting across all elements.

We hope that when people come to our site they are interested and engaged by our authenticity and call to action. From there, they will feel compelled to take part in our movement to raise awareness of renewable energy and environmental sustainability. The logo will be a large part of that success.

The content of the website is a profile of the organization in terms of who we are and what we hope to accomplish. With a strong message and transparent goals, people who don’t know too much about renewable energy and environmental sustainability can understand it and feel compelled to get involved.
Solar the Sign is focused on engaging people who want to make an impact on their environment and their communities.

We hope to connect the millennial age group in particular as they are the group who will have the biggest impact creating a better, more sustainable environment for tomorrow.

We want to evoke the following feelings and ideas (if possible…)
* Trust – We are an credible, authentic organization dedicated to creating a sustainable environment
* Engagement- Get our audience to want to help us
* Impact- state the facts so people know what they are supporting
* Clarity- Be clear in our message so they can understand sustainable energy and how they can promote STS
* Not for Profit- We are not trying to sell anything. Be transparent in what we do and what we hope to accomplish.

REQUIREMENTS (in order of priority): convey solar energy, feel “green” and as stated above simple, professional, memorable and eventually recognizable.

We would also like to see 2 versions:
(1) Incorporate the Hollywood sign either directly (actual imagery of the sign) or indirectly into the logo (via font style, etc.)
(2) A logo without any reference to the Hollywood sign

PAYMENT OPTIONS: Since we are a non-profit, we would ask for this logo to be an in-kind donation to Solar The Sign. In return, we will gladly post a recognition to the artist and hyperlink a website on our website.
